Our Story – Dursots

WHO WE ARE

Eastern Trading Company (Pty) Limited t/a Darsot Food Corporation is a South African-based business. It started operations in 1993. The company specializes in manufacturing food products from organic sources. The products range from canned vegetables and legumes to tomato paste, bottled tomato sauce, hot sauces, marinades, condiments ,spreads, and bottled water, including Halaal-certified meat products. These products are marketed under the Dursots® brand and are sold in both retail and food service pack sizes, with more than 750 independent and wholesale stores and selected retailers in the country stock them.

The family behind this business put a greater focus on horizontal growth rather than vertical growth, in order to have a level of control on costs and quality of raw materials through backward integration. Additionally, the company is committed to using more than 90% of its raw materials and packaging from South African sources in order to guarantee authenticity, quality, taste, nutrition, and reliable supply. The company has their own fleet of trucks and a centralized warehouse in the south of Johannesburg.
